Sewing is the craft of fastening or attaching objects using stitches made with a needle and thread. Sewing is one of the oldest of the textile arts, arising in the Paleolithic era. Before the invention of spinning yarn or weaving fabric, archaeologists believe Stone Age people across Europe and Asia sewed fur and skin clothing using bone, antler or ivory needles and "thread" made of various animal body parts including sinew, catgut, and veins.
Sew a scrunchie by using upcycled fabric sewn into a tube and inserted with elastic.
Sew a tote bag of any shape/size using the sewing machine. You can decorate it by painting, printing or attaching decorations on the bag. You can also sew pockets inside or outside the bag.
Using recycled fabric, sew a pencil case or pouch with a zipper closure. How many pencils/pens you would be keeping inside your pencil case? What kind of things you would be keeping in your pouch? You can try changing the presser foot of the sewing machine to the zipper presser foot to help you sew on the zipper.
